About Council 867
Founded by Blessed Michael McGivney in 1882, the Knights of Columbus exists to support and strengthen Catholic men to live their faith boldly and bravely in service to their family, parish, community and country—Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism its guiding principles.
Council 867 fulfills this mission in a multitude of ways. A Star Council for the past three years, 867 is honored to support four Catholic parishes and two Catholic schools within the City of Lancaster, as well as local and national not-for-profits that serve our priests, the needy, the disabled and the homeless. Some of these charitable causes include:
-
Youth programs—Soccer Challenge and Free-Throw Competitions
-
Local pregnancy center
-
Coats for Kids, and now adults
-
Special Olympics
-
Box of Joy—Collecting boxes of simple gifts for impoverished children worldwide
-
Livestream of the Mass from Historic St. Mary's
Many are the needs! We are grateful for the Knights and families who volunteer with our fundraisers and projects, but we can always use an extra hand, especially with the driving force of our funding—
-
BINGO on Thursday nights—Our primary fundraiser, Bingo proceeds support all of our council's charities and activities. Volunteering one or two hours per week or month would help a great deal and be most appreciated.
Whether working Bingo nights, turkey parties or soup kitchens; praying the Rosary, working a youth program or laying a wreath on a veteran's grave, the Knights of 867 are dedicated to living our Catholic faith in service to others.
If you are a practicing Catholic gentleman over the age of 18, please join us!
